Format

  • Google Sheet name = ???_list
  • delete all unused columns
  • delete all unused rows
  • background color of all cells = lightes gray
  • before we go live, check that the share settings will allow viewing of the page for everyone, but not *editing*
  • do not display the spreadsheet name in the Infobase web page; to turn the name off, go into editing the web page, click on the spreadsheet place holder and find the "Properties" link.. you will find an option there to turn it off
  • please make sure that you share all Google Sheets specifically with lossinc@scn1a.info; for some reason the "everyone" option doesn't show that document when I log into Google
  • all files ought to have one single sheet only; delete the default 2nd and 3rd sheet
  • freeze row 1 to display it as the header (go to Tools > Freeze Row 1)
  • hide unwanted columns (in this case I hid the "Certified?" column) by clicking on the column header drop, then selecting the little drop down triangle and selecting "Hide column"
  • you can also hide individual rows analogously; in the Polymorphism_list I did that for rows that had no reference
  • take all highlighting out that formerly indicated "new"
  • Fontsize 10
  • references are displayed as they are now, but they ought to be all hyperlinked to the Reference page; this is a little cumbersome within Google Documents Spreadsheets, because you need to use a function: =HYPERLINK( "www.google.com" ; "Search Google" )... the quotation marks are mandatory... it may be more convenient at this point to try to insert the hyperlinks Excel before you upload the document to Google --- WARNING --- simply copying and pasting of the Excel sheet into a Google sheet will not copy any hyperlinks
  • check publications that say "Epub" - these are early publications that had no final reference at the point of publication; recheck Pubmed and see if their reference format has been completed - add them to the Reference Page if necessary
  • make sure that all cited references are also existent on the References subpage; if not add them with the appropriate hyperlink to PubMed
  • for all new web pages created, go to More actions > Page settings and uncheck "Allow attachments" and "Allow comments"
  • make all new pages at the top level
  • make sure all web pages have and "Entry Date" column; let's use 25Oct2010 for all data that we currently have; any changes entered into the infobase thereafter will have their new entry date
